3 apps I can't live without: AndroidPIT edition

Kris Carlon 2015-05-03T10:00:01Z1 day ago User picture Kris Carlon Kris Carlon comes to the AndroidPIT Editorial Team via a lengthy period spent traveling and relying on technology to keep him in touch with the outside world. He joined the Android community while resurfacing in civilization back in 2010 and has never looked back, using technology to replace his actual presence in other people's lives ever since. He can usually be found juggling three phones at once and poring over G+ posts, Reddit and RSS feeds.

We've all got some apps we literally could not live without. And I'm not talking about Facebook, Gmail and Chrome either. I'm talking about those personal favorites, those apps that have worked their way into the very fiber of our being to the point that we can't imagine life without them. These are the kinds of apps we live for, these are the apps we dream of, and these are the apps we want to share with you today.

Samsung Galaxy S6 home button What are the first three apps you always install on a new phone? / c ANDROIDPIT

Note: We've asked an editor from five of the AndroidPIT domains for five of their must-have apps (not including the obvious ones). They may not be to your taste, they may already be on your phone, or you may have absolutely no use for them. But these are the apps that some of the staff at AndroidPIT simply must install on every new phone we get. This is what all app developers strive for. Share your must-haves in the comments below.

AndroidPIT Link Bubble AndroidPIT page One of the first apps I always install is Link Bubble browser./ c ANDROIDPIT

Link Bubble: Because only suckers stare at white loading screens in browsers. Link Bubble takes your tapped links and opens them in the background so you can keep browsing.

Pushbullet: Once you've used Pushbullet to push content across devices – from phones to laptops and more – you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Pocket: I literally never read articles online now. Everything worth reading gets saved to read later in Pocket.

AndroidPIT Minuum keyboard HTC One M9 Nico can't live without the ultra-minimal Minuum keyboard. / c ANDROIDPIT

Minuum: Because it's the tiny keyboard with big features and I can honestly type faster with Minuum than any other smartphone keyboard.

Weather Timeline: A phone is nothing without a weather widget and Weather Timeline shows me the weather in all its Material Design sweetness.

Real Silent: Whenever I put my phone on silent/vibrate, this little app also puts my media volume on silent as well. That means no interruptions at all.

smart launcher lg g2 teaser Quentin always turns to Smart Launcher 2 on a new phone. / c ANDROIDPIT

Smart Launcher 2: This is my default Android launcher on any phone, mostly for its gesture shortcuts and apps categories. ?

Type Mail: This universal email client brings all of my accounts together and I love its widget and independent notifications settings for each account.

VSCO Cam: I rate VSCO cam because it's features are seriously cool and it works nicely with Instagram.

AndroidPIT Around Me app Kike looks to Around Me for locating whatever he needs in the immediate area. / c ANDROIDPIT

AroundMe: It helps you find Bars, cash machines, supermarkets, pharmacies...anything you need around you.?

Romeo Uncut: The biggest gay social network in Germany and other countries, but you can only get all content uncensored with this APK. The normal version in Google Play censors nude pics. Sorry but I can't live without that.

Mac Remote: A great way to remote control the Macbook laptop from your smartphone, since the new Macbook generations don't include a remote control. (Of course you will need to have an infrared port in your smartphone.)

AndroidPIT Muzei app LG G Flex 2 Camila likes to show her phone some love with Muzei Live Wallpaper. / c ANDrOIDPIT

Muzei: It may seem strange to say you'd be lost without a wallpaper app but with Muzei I have a new piece of art everyday to beautify my phone which is always with me. Plus, I'm learning every day and appreciating the work of amazing painters.

Dropbox: Since my job is directly related to smartphones, everyday I need 100 screenshots. I hate cables so I love Dropbox because it instantly uploads all the pictures to the cloud which I can edit on my laptop right way.

Swarm: Google Maps consumes too much data and battery life, so Swarm is the best app for me to find places to go, especially because there're a lot of active users and you can choose who you think is the best guide in the city and follow their suggestions.

AndroidPIT Easyjet app The app for your favorite airline can save so much time, like Easyjet does for Daria./ c ANDROIDPIT

EasyJet: It might just be me, but not having to print a?boarding pass every time I?take an EasyJet fight really changed my life. I always have it right there in my pocket along with all the useful information about my trip, and I can stop stessing out about catching the plane and start worrying about whether or not there will be turbulence.?

MyFitnessPal: I am not a diet freak, but lately I got used to really paying attention to what I eat and this app is perfect to keep track not only of calories but also of the nutritional details about the different foods I eat, and trust me, it doesn’t look good!

Waze: best app ever invented! I don’t get to used it much here in Berlin, but if you like to drive around the city and know exatly how the traffic will be along the road or where the cheapest gas stations are, this is the app you need to download now. DO IT!

Which?less obvious?apps can't you live without?
